How to transcribe an audio file

  1. Open Audio AI and choose an audio file, or record a short clip with your microphone.
  2. Select the spoken language. If you are unsure, leave automatic detection on.
  3. Choose Transcribe audio and wait while the model processes the recording in your browser.
  4. Review the result, correct names and numbers, then copy the text or download a TXT file.

Ways to improve transcription accuracy

Record in a quiet place and keep the microphone at a steady distance. If several people are speaking, ask them to take turns; the tool may not separate speakers into individual tracks. Select the correct language when you know it. Background noise, music, accents, uncommon names and specialist terms can affect the result, so check the finished transcript before relying on it, especially for names, dates and figures.

Where your recording is processed

The speech model downloads to your browser the first time you use it, and audio is processed on your device. The recording is not uploaded to the Audio AI server. For sensitive recordings, still follow your organization’s policies and avoid leaving an unlocked browser open on a shared computer.
