Podcast by roles: how to create a dialogue with hosts and transitions

The «Podcast by roles» tool creates podcast text with host roles, segments and natural transitions. In this article we will explain how to correctly fill in three form fields to get a coherent dialogue, not a set of disconnected replicas. You will learn how to formulate the input text, describe characters and set duration so that the result matches the intended design. We will also show how to check the generated text and what limitations the tool has. All examples are fictional and provided for illustration.

How the tool is structured and what it accepts as input

The tool is a web form with three text fields: «Your text or idea», «Role or characters» and «Duration or length». You fill them in, select the output language and press «Generate». The result appears in a separate panel as plain text, which can be copied or downloaded as a TXT file. No style presets, sliders or levels of changes in the interface — all control is done through text.

The first field accepts up to 8000 characters. This can be a topic, theses, a text fragment or just an idea. The second field — up to 1000 characters — describes roles: who hosts the podcast, how many hosts, their characters, manner of speech. The third field sets the duration: you can specify minutes or number of replicas. The more specific the description, the more predictable the result.

Important to understand: the tool does not generate audio or video. It creates text only. If you need speech, it can be synthesised separately using eSpeak in WAV, but that is beyond the scope of this form. Images, which are sometimes offered in similar services, are not created here. We work exclusively with text dialogue.

Example filling: input — «Beginning gardener: three mistakes when planting tomatoes»; role — «Host 1: experienced gardener, calm; Host 2: beginner, asks questions»; length — «5 minutes».

Changing input data: from topic to theses

The simplest way to get different variants is to change the first field. If you give only a topic, the tool will invent the content itself. If you insert ready theses or even a paragraph of text, the dialogue will follow your logic more precisely. Try three approaches: short topic, list of theses and expanded fragment. Each will give its own result.

For example, for the topic «Podcast about urban greening» you can first send just «urban greening», then «three ways to green a balcony», then a paragraph describing specific plants. In the first case the dialogue will be general, in the second — structured, in the third — detailed. This does not guarantee that the tool will output exactly what you expect, but it increases the chances of the right angle.

Do not forget the 8000 character limit. If your text is longer, shorten it or split it into several requests. Also avoid very general formulations: the more specific the input, the more useful the output.

Input 1: «Healthy eating». Input 2: «Healthy eating: 5 simple rules for busy people». Input 3: «Healthy eating: how to breakfast so you don't want to eat until lunch». Results will differ in depth and structure.

Setting roles: how many hosts and what characters they have

The second field allows you to set the number of hosts and their features. You can specify one host, two or even three. For each describe the role: expert, skeptic, newcomer, enthusiast. The brighter the character, the more interesting the dialogue. For example, «Host 1: skeptic, loves to argue; Host 2: optimist, looks for pluses» will create natural tension.

If you want to get different variants, try changing the roles. Compare a dialogue of two experts and a dialogue of an expert with a newcomer. In the first case the discussion will be deep, but may be difficult for the listener. In the second — more accessible, with explanations. Third option — three hosts with different points of view, giving a multi-voice.

Do not overload the role description: 1000 characters is enough for 2–3 characters. Indicate not only profession but also manner of speech: «speaks quickly», «uses metaphors», «asks clarifying questions». This will help the tool make transitions more natural.

Role 1: «Host 1: biology teacher, explains calmly, with examples». Role 2: «Host 2: student, interrupts, jokes». Result: lively dialogue with questions and answers.

Duration and structure: how to get three different variants

The third field controls the volume. You can specify «3 minutes», «10 minutes» or «about 20 replicas». The tool will distribute the material differently: a short dialogue will be focused on the main points, a long one will allow adding examples and digressions. If you want to compare variants, generate three versions with different duration: 2 minutes, 5 minutes and 10 minutes.

Structure also depends on the input data. If you give a list of theses, the tool may split the dialogue into segments: introduction, main part, conclusion. But it does not follow a strict template — transitions can be smooth or sharp. To get a more structured result, add a hint in the first field: «divide into three parts: problem, solution, example».

Remember: the tool does not guarantee perfect logic. Sometimes transitions may seem unnatural. In such case change the role formulation or add a style instruction: «use short replicas», «ask questions». This is not a panacea, but it helps.

Three requests with the same input and roles, but different duration: «2 minutes», «5 minutes», «10 minutes». Compare how the depth and number of examples change.

Comparing three variants and choosing the best

When you have three results, compare them by several criteria: match with topic, naturalness of dialogue, structure, presence of specific examples. The first option may be too general, the second — overloaded with details, the third — a good balance. Do not rely only on first glance: read aloud to assess rhythm.

It is useful to write down pros and cons of each option. For example, option A: good transitions, but few facts. Option B: many facts, but dialogue sounds like an interrogation. Option C: good roles, but a chopped ending. Then choose the one closer to your goal and edit it manually or with a new request.

Remember that the tool can make mistakes. If factual inaccuracies or strange assertions appear in the dialogue, check them. Better use the generated text as a draft, not as a ready-made script.

Option 1: 2 minutes — quick, but superficial. Option 2: 5 minutes — optimal. Option 3: 10 minutes — a lot of water. We choose option 2 and edit the ending.

Editing the selected variant

After choosing a variant it can be improved. The simplest way — copy the text and edit manually: remove duplicates, add facts, change replicas. If you want to do this with the tool, send the selected dialogue as input with the note «rewrite, keeping structure, but make replicas shorter». However remember: the tool does not have a mode for comparing changes or highlighting edits.

You can also generate a new variant with clarified roles. For example, if in the selected dialogue host 2 is too passive, describe him as «active, asks many questions». This may give a more lively result. But it is not guaranteed that changes will be drastic.

Editing is an iterative process. Do not be afraid to make several requests. The main thing — keep the best fragments and combine them manually. The tool does not save history, so copy successful pieces immediately.

Selected dialogue: «— Tomatoes love sun. — What if the balcony is north? — Then better greenery». Editing: add replica «— What kind of unpretentious greenery is there?».

Checking the result and tool limitations

Check the generated text for logic and facts. The tool may output plausible but incorrect statements. If the topic concerns health, finances or law, remember: this is educational content, not personal advice. Do not use the dialogue as a guide to action without consulting a specialist.

Technical limitations: input fields have limits (8000 and 1000 characters), speech can be synthesised only through eSpeak in WAV, images — only SVG and PNG. No export to DOCX or PDF, no batch processing, automatic saving, integrations, OCR, settings panels, comparison modes, publishing, email delivery, document upload, premium plan, registration, voice cloning, photorealistic image generation or audio/video generation. The model may make mistakes, queue and availability may change.

Despite the limitations, the tool is useful for quickly creating a podcast draft. It saves time on inventing structure and replicas. Main thing — use it as an assistant, not as a replacement for the creative process.

Check: in a dialogue about finance it is asserted «always invest in stocks». This is a dangerous generalization. Fix to «consider diversification, but consult a financial advisor».

The «Podcast by roles» tool allows you to quickly get a dialogue text with hosts, segments and transitions. To get different variants, change the input data, role descriptions and duration. Compare results by structure and naturalness, choose the best and edit manually. Remember the limitations: this is only text, no audio or video, with input limits and possible errors. Use it as a draft, check facts and do not rely on it as a source of personalised advice. Examples in the article are fictional and provided for illustration.
