Dialogue: how to write dialogues with different voices

The "Dialogue" service helps quickly create a natural dialogue with different character voices and a clear dramatic purpose. But it is not a replacement for the author: AI takes on the rough draft, and you manually refine characters, subtext and logic. In this article we will break down which parts of the task can be delegated to the service, what must be checked yourself and when the tool is not suitable. All examples are fictional and provided for illustration.

What "Dialogue" can do and how to work with it

"Dialogue" is a web form with three text fields: "Your text or idea", "Role or characters" and "Tone, style or format". You fill them in, choose the output language, click "Generate" and get one result in a separate panel. You can copy it or download it as a plain text TXT file. No style presets, sliders or levels of changes in the interface - just text instructions.

The service cannot export to DOCX or PDF, does not support batch processing, automatic saving, integrations or OCR. It also does not publish text directly and does not send it by e-mail. Maximum length of the first field is 8000 characters, details field - 1000 characters. For speech there is eSpeak TTS in WAV, for subtitles - SRT, for images - only vector SVG and PNG. This is important to keep in mind if you are used to heavier editors.

Main feature: the service does not generate photorealistic images and does not create audio or video. Vector images are compositions of shapes, not photographs. Speech is synthesized locally via eSpeak, not sent to AI. The model may make mistakes, and queue and availability may change. Therefore, the result always needs to be checked.

Filling example: input - "Two friends arguing, should they leave their hometown"; role - "Anya, 27, wants to leave; Maxim, 30, stays"; style - "Conversational, with pauses and interruptions, 10 lines".

Which parts of the task to delegate to the service

The service should be given the rough framework: arrangement of replikas, basic logic of the dispute, introduction of conflict and its development. For example, if you give the idea "two friends arguing about leaving", "Dialogue" will offer a sequence: setup, development, climax, resolution. This saves time at the stage when you just need to see the structure.

You can also delegate generation of alternative variants of the same scene with different tones: ironic, dark, warm. But remember: the service has no presets, so tone is set only by text in the "Tone, style or format" field. The more specific the description, the more useful the draft. For example, "short clipped phrases, impolite, with mutual accusations" will give a livelier result than just "conflict".

Another area for AI - rough speech for TTS. If you need a WAV file, you can generate a dialogue, then synthesize it via eSpeak. But it will be a mechanical voice, not emotional acting. For SRT subtitles the service will also suit: you will get text that can be broken into replikas and saved in the required format.

Request: "Write a dialogue between Anya and Maxim. Anya speaks quickly, interrupts, uses slang. Maxim answers slowly, with pauses, tries to avoid conflict. Topic: moving out. 12 lines, open ending."

What to check yourself after generation

First of all check the characters' voices. AI often makes them similar: both speak the same sentences, use the same words. Your task is to add individual speech habits: one may repeat "listen", another may end sentences with a question "right". Without this the dialogue sounds flat.

Secondly check the dramatic purpose. Every line must move the conflict forward. If after reading you can drop half the lines without losing meaning - there is no tension. Remove water, add subtext: characters can say one thing and mean another. This is almost never done by AI itself.

Thirdly check facts and logic. If the dialogue mentions dates, amounts, laws or medical details, they need to be verified. The service is not a source of reliable information. Also check for random repeats, violations of causal connections and "falling" lines that do not answer the previous one.

After generation you see: "Anya: I am tired of this city. Maxim: Me too, but here is my house." Weak point - same construction. Manually: "Anya: I can't take this city anymore. Maxim: (pause) And I, imagine, can."

When "Dialogue" is not suitable

The service will not suit if you need a large volume of text with deep psychological development. It does not maintain complex characters over many pages. For a novel or play better use it as an idea generator, not as the main tool. It is also not suitable for tasks requiring exact styling under a specific author: the service has no presets and does not learn from your texts.

Do not use "Dialogue" for legal, medical or financial consultations. It does not give personalized advice and does not check facts. If you need a dialogue for educational material on finances, you can generate it, but all numbers and statements must be verified by an expert. This is an educational tool, not a source of truth.

The service is also not suitable for batch processing: you cannot upload several ideas and get several dialogues at once. There is no automatic saving, integrations and publishing. If your process requires these functions, you will have to look for another solution or combine "Dialogue" with other tools manually.

Situation: you need 50 dialogues for a language app. "Dialogue" does not support batch mode, so each dialogue must be generated separately and the result manually copied.

Practical example: from idea to ready dialogue

Suppose you are writing a scene for a short film. Idea: two friends, Anya and Maxim, argue about moving out. Anya wants to leave, Maxim stays. You fill in the fields: input - "Two friends arguing, should they leave their hometown"; role - "Anya, 27, tired of the province, dreams of a big city; Maxim, 30, attached to the house, afraid of changes"; style - "Conversational, with interruptions, pauses, no unnecessary politeness, 10-12 lines".

The service gives a draft. You read and see that Anya and Maxim speak similar sentences. You manually add Anya quick, clipped phrases, and Maxim long ones with pauses. Then you check if there is a dramatic purpose: every line must either strengthen the conflict or show an attempt to smooth it out. If a line does neither - delete it.

After editing you can copy the text or download it as TXT. If you need TTS, use eSpeak for WAV, but remember: it will be a robotic voice. For subtitles save text as SRT manually. Images can only be generated vector (SVG, PNG), and they will not be photorealistic.

Fragment after editing: "Anya: I can't see these streets anymore. Maxim: (silent) And I can't imagine other. Anya: So you stay. Maxim: (quietly) So I stay."

Service limitations and how to work around them

Main limitations: no presets, no levels of changes, no batch processing, no automatic saving. Maximum length of first field - 8000 characters, details - 1000. For speech - 3000 characters, for images - 4 MB, for browser audio - 20 MB or 5 minutes. Model may make mistakes, queue and availability may change.

To work around the length limit, break the task into parts: first generate the setup, then conflict, then resolution. Save each part manually. If you need a different tone, change the text in the "Tone, style or format" field and generate again. Do not expect a perfect result on the first try - it is a draft.

Remember, the service does not replace the author. It does not guarantee quality, does not check facts and does not give personalized advice. Always check the result: voices, logic, dramatic purpose. If the dialogue must be exact in details, check with sources. This is a tool for accelerating routine, not for creating a final text.

If you need 20 lines but the service gives 10, generate a second part with the note "continuation, starting from line 11". Then join manually.

"Dialogue" is a useful assistant for rough work on dialogues. It quickly creates a framework, but requires manual refinement: voices, subtext, logic and dramatic purpose remain with you. Use the service for ideas and structure, check every result and do not expect it to replace the author. Remember the limitations: no batch processing, no presets, speech synthesized locally, images only vector. All examples in the article are fictional and provided for illustration.
