Choose a wheel when the group is watching

A wheel works well when people can see the draw on a shared screen: in a classroom, meeting, game or small giveaway. The spin makes the process visible and adds anticipation. It is a visual way to present a result, not a separate proof that the draw was fair.

Before spinning, check that the options are visible and the list follows the rules you announced. Enable winner removal if a selected name should not return during the same activity. For sensitive lists, display no more information than necessary.

Choose a plain list picker for speed

A list picker is usually more convenient for a quick result, a workflow without a shared screen or selecting several entries. It also suits large lists where reading the result matters more than watching a wheel spin.

When you select several items, an entry is not picked twice in the same draw. Repeated lines still count as separate chances unless you remove duplicates first. To create a new order for the entire list, use the shuffle tool.

Compare the tools by task

  1. Want to involve a group and show the draw? Use the wheel.
  2. Need one quick result or several selected entries? Use the list picker.
  3. Need to split people into groups? Open the team generator.
  4. Need every position in a new order? Use the list randomizer.
  5. To keep chances as intended, check that each entry appears the number of times you mean it to.

Common questions

Is the wheel more random than a list picker?

For the same list, they are two interfaces for a random selection. The result is chosen on your device; the wheel animation simply shows the selected section.

Can a participant get more than one chance?

Yes. Add the entry more than once if you intend to increase its chance, and make sure that matches the rules for your draw.

How do I avoid choosing the same winner twice?

Enable winner removal on the wheel or pick several entries without replacement in the list tool.
