Identify the facts to protect

Before rewriting, list names, numbers, dates, time references and qualifications. These details are easier to check when written separately from the prose.

Paste the paragraph into the paraphraser and run the rewrite. The model changes ordinary wording and sentence structure, but the result still needs your review.

  1. Save the source.
  2. List protected facts.
  3. Request the paraphrase.

Compare the new structure

Different wording should express the same relationship between events. Check who acted, what changed and whether the action was completed, planned or only possible.

Keep precise time references. Replacing yesterday with recently or a fixed deadline with an approximate one changes information, even if the sentence reads smoothly.

  1. Compare subjects and actions.
  2. Check time precision.
  3. Check the degree of certainty.

Check attribution separately

If the paragraph draws on a source, keep that connection in your notes and finished writing. Paraphrasing does not remove attribution obligations.

The originality search can help with limited public-web matches, and the citation formatter can assemble a basic entry from verified details. Neither replaces your source review.

  1. Keep the source record.
  2. Verify the revised meaning.
  3. Review attribution requirements.

Worked example

Before
On Tuesday, 20 participants reviewed the draft. Comments are due by Friday.
After
The draft was reviewed by 20 participants on Tuesday. The deadline for comments is Friday.

The illustrative rewrite changes the structure while preserving the participants, day and deadline.

Before you finish

  • Names and numbers unchanged.
  • Dates and deadlines unchanged.
  • Certainty is preserved.
  • Borrowed ideas remain attributed.

Questions and answers

Can I replace an exact date with a general phrase?

Only if you intentionally change the information. A faithful paraphrase should retain its precision.

Does new wording guarantee originality?

No. You must still consider sources, quotations and attribution.
